Get to know Rhiannon Sarginson

In our new ‘Get to know’ series, we will introduce a different member of staff each month, to give our customers insight into the different roles and expertise at the Hub and the people that perform them.

To kick off the new ‘Get to know’ series, we would like to introduce Rhiannon Sarginson, our Engagement Manager.

What is your role at the Hub?

I am the Engagement Manager here at the Hub. I work across all of our categories and all of the NHS trusts as a central point of contact. I support the ICSs and ICBs with up-to-date information on the value that our collaboration continues to deliver. I also look at how we may work together in the future across the changing landscape as well as opportunities to improve outcomes for patients. My role is varied; I’ve got to be flexible to react to the needs of the Hub and the organisations that we support.

What is the biggest challenge you face in your role?

Timing – when to have what discussion, when to chase if no response without being rude, when to suggest new ideas, when to say nothing, when to synchronise thoughts. Not even just in work is it? It’s the timing when cooking, the work/life timing balance, the timing of schedules. Get it right and it has power, drive and accomplishment. Get it wrong and it can feel like you have taken 3 steps back.

What do you find most rewarding about your role, or working in the NHS?

I think like most, I enjoy seeing my efforts come to fruition. Small projects, long term goals all give me an element of reward but leading or supporting to achieve organisational outcomes or aims gives me the greatest satisfaction.

What was your first job?

I worked in admin and reception at a pallet manufacturer.

Do you have any hobbies?

Both my children and I play netball for a local club in which I am also the chairperson. It’s quite a large club with four adult teams and five junior teams which play in five different leagues in the county. A lot of my time is taken up meeting the club’s needs as well as playing and coaching! I play GS or GK for those who are interested.

What is your dream holiday?

I’m not sure I have one in all honesty, I enjoy all different types of holidays, be it on the beach, sightseeing, in the UK or abroad. A few bucket list trips though I would like to take – the northern lights, a tour of India, Las Vegas, and Cambodia to name a few.
