This dynamic, two-part course offers a deep dive into the vital link between climate change and healthcare. You’ll explore how the climate crisis is already affecting patient health, learn what the NHS is doing to reduce its emissions, and discover how you and your team can take action — right from your own department.
What’s involved?
Developed by the Carbon Literacy Project in collaboration with Greener NHS and e-Learning for Healthcare, this hybrid course includes:
- 5 short e-Learning modules of 30 minutes accessed on the NHS Learning Hub.
- A live, half-day online workshop delivered by us at Lighthouse Sustainability
Using video, breakout discussions, and real-world examples, the workshop brings climate action to life — giving you the tools and confidence to reduce emissions at work, drive sustainable change, and help save lives and the planet.

Who’s it for?
Open to all NHS England colleagues with a valid NHS email—especially those who need a flexible training option that fits around clinical and non-clinical schedules.
**Please note, NHS employees must have completed the e-Learning module before attending this workshop.**
Learners must complete both the e-Learning and attend a workshop, before submitting their evidence forms to be certified Carbon Literate. You will receive a certificate and certified footer logo from The Carbon Literacy Project on successful completion of an Evidence Form.
