Wound Imaging Solutions framework update
06 February 2023

The Hub’s Pharmacy team has extended the Wound Imaging Solutions framework, utilising its final extension.  The framework, which supports the procurement of wound imaging devices and systems, will now expire on 1st January 2024.

Wound imaging devices and systems can measure all types of wounds and are particularly useful for conditions such as:

  • diabetic foot ulcers
  • leg ulcers
  • pressure ulcers
  • skin lesions
  • injuries
  • burns

The digital devices have Electronic Patient Record (EPR) software integration and capture 2D or 3D images, measuring a wound’s width, length and depth.  Some devices have thermal imaging.

These images can be used to measure the progress or deterioration of the healing process.  This is especially useful where multiple clinical staff are involved in the ongoing care of a patient, as diagnosis can be subjective. Images can be applied to the patient’s electronic patient record and can be used in consultations with the multi-disciplinary team.

Benefits of this framework

  • offers a compliant route to market for this innovative technology
  • comparison tool identifying the suppliers and products awarded under the framework
  • innovative pricing discounts from awarded suppliers
  • open and free to access for the NHS
  • opportunity to facilitate further competitions with the potential to realise further savings against specific requirements.

New Wound Imaging web page

We have created a new web page, explaining how our framework can benefit patients and how wound imaging works.  The framework’s lots are listed together with the suppliers awarded to each of them.

The new page includes a members’ resources section which houses links to written and video case studies, some useful background articles along with informative videos, all of which have been shared by some of the framework’s providers.

The new page can be found on our website here.

Setting up stakeholder group

During 2023, we’ll be working towards creating a replacement framework.  Firstly, we’re inviting all interested parties to help steer the new tender by joining the stakeholder group we’re setting up.  If you would like to participate, please contact: Jill.Kettle@eoecph.nhs.uk.
