Benefits of Membership

The Hub is an award-winning, not-for-profit NHS organisation which provides members with strategic purchasing support and specialist knowledge across the entire health economy. Our aim is to help our members to reduce clinical risk whilst improving the quality of patient care, drive healthcare innovation and deliver much-needed cash releasing savings.

The Hub delivers savings and added value benefits that can be seen throughout entire organisations whilst helping members to navigate the changing procurement landscape. Specific benefits include:

Savings

  • Savings are at the core of the Hub’s offering. We’ve consistently delivered both cash-releasing and cost avoidance savings to our members since our inception in April 2017.

Efficiencies through collaboration and regionalism

  • Collaboration is at the centre of our organisation. With procurement in the NHS moving towards a more regionalist approach, collaboration has become even more important for achieving effiencies and reducing duplication.
  • We work in a range of collaborations nationally, regionally and locally, grouped by geography, STP, cluster and sector.

Project support

  • We offer our members project support to address their specific requirements. Our team works with customers on a number of individual projects tailored to their needs.
  • Projects include highly complex, large-scale procurements, mini competitions, GS1 Adoption Plans and negotiations to reduce agency transfer fees.
  • Our Corporate team has recently been expanded to accommodate additional project support.

 

A regional network

  • The Hub acts as our members’ regional voice on a national level. Our team run, support and attend a wide range of stakeholder and professional groups, so we understand our customers’ needs and ensure that they are considered by national regulatory bodies.

Change management

  • Procurement in the NHS is going though major transformation. The Hub works with our customers to help them navigate the changing procurement landscape.

Specialist guidance and knowledge

  • Our procurement team is in regular contact with members, providing expert guidance and advice on a daily basis.
  • The Hub’s Integrated Care team includes a Clinical Product Implementation Manager with a strong clinical background, who works closely with Trust Clinical Procurement Specialists.

  • The Hub aims to become the bridge between innovation and procurement

Horizon scanning

  • We keep our focus on the future of procurement in the NHS, so we can understand and prepare for upcoming challenges and changing customer needs.

Compliance

  • The Hub strives to ensure that our members are fully compliant with all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Market management

  • We develop and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure the reliable delivery of quality products and services.
  • These relationships foster innovation, minimise risk and safeguard a resilient and competitive market.

Training and education

  • We run a range of training events and workshops for our members, ranging from legal and regulatory updates to workshops designed to upskill junior buyers.
  • Previous sessions have included HMRC: An Insight into IR35, Umbrella Companies and Current Workforce Issues and EU Public Procurement Regulations Update.

Management information and reporting support

  • The Hub provides data and information to help members meet national reporting requirements.
  •  We work with customers to develop reports that reflect and track the benefits of their Hub membership.
