Hopefully you have your Provider Selection Regime (PSR) annual summary published or ready to go out, but if not, a reminder that you have until 4 October to publish this online.
There is no notice or specific format these need to follow, the only requirement is that they are published on a publicly available website that is free of charge. While within the NHS England FAQs they have suggested including the annual summary in your annual reports or governance statements, it can also just go on your website.
The annual summary must relate to contracts awarded under PSR between 1 January 2024 and 31 March 2025, and be published by the end of the six month period following the end of the financial year. While this first summary will cover a little over a year, all subsequent statements will cover solely to the financial year that they relate to.
The list of required content is included in Part 5, Regulation 25 of the Health Care Service (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. Simply, you need to include:
- Details of the number of contracts awarded via each award procedure
- Number of awards you have used a framework for or if you have created any frameworks, the number of urgent and modified contracts
- The number of new providers a new contract was awarded to
- How many written representations were received and a summary of each
Most requirements only need numbers; you don’t need to provide contract titles or details of the awards under each procedure, only how many in total have occurred. The only real text that needs to be provided is regarding how many representations you have received and a summary of the nature and impact.
Many trusts and councils have already published theirs so if you’re looking for some good examples, search ‘provider selection regime annual summary’. A nice example from the East of England is Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn!
